12-Switch LED Matrix Manager Targets Automotive Lighting

Addresses Thermal Issues and Space Constraints in Automotive Matrix Lighting and Adaptive Driving Beam LED Applications

Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. has developed a 12-switch matrix manager that offers automotive designers greater flexibility and smaller solution sizes while boasting the lowest internal switch resistance on the market, according to the company. The MAX20092 is optimized for high-performance automotive lighting and adaptive driving beam LED applications.

The MAX20092 can drive LED currents of up to 1.5 A and features 12 integrated switches that can manage LEDs in string voltages up to 56 V while offering an integrated MOSFET on resistance (RDS_ON) of 70 mΩ, a figure that Maxim claims is 65% lower than its nearest competitors can provide.

Knowles Novacap High-Reliability MLCCs

The Novacap multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) from Knowles are RoHS-compliant, high-capacitance BME MLC chip capacitors manufactured in stable Class II dielectrics X7R and X5R. They have a capacitive range from 6.8 nF up to 100 μF with tolerances of ±10% and ±20%.

Because of the extremely low equivalent series resistance (ESR) characteristics, the MLCCs can be used as replacements for tantalum and low-ESR electrolytic capacitors without polarity concerns, according to the company.
